The Color of Paradise

If you like moving, foreign films, this is definitely one to look up. I'm glad I found this one at the library.

It makes me wish I were back in my French and Italian Cinema class-- we studied foreign film in a way that highlights the high art and subtle imagery. I found this film to be intensely powerful.

I'll give a warning-- the power is in subtle moments... meaning you might find it slow. Still, I would recommend this film to anyone.

  3. I loved this film, I saw it on the big screen in one of the Cambridge theaters that does foreign films and I found it incredibly moving and sad and hopeful. I second your recommendation!

  4. Not to ruin anything but it is Soooo Sad! Not Das Boot sad but eh gad, cruel world sad. But good. That's how Foreign films tend to go I suppose.

When I'm struggling for movie suggestions I look up what BYU's international cinema has playing. It's served me well.

From Britain, you might like Son of Rambow. Aaron and I recently enjoyed it.

  5. Actually, I've seen Son of Rambow! What the random? It was pretty weird/quirky but interestingly enjoyable.
